30th July - Mini Monkey

Awwww its a cute little monkey, his body and head sit at just 5 inches tall but his tail makes him around 10 inches tall, I love little sculptures like this, they make people go, "ahhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Mini Monkey is made from 2 x 160 balloons, he is very quick to make and the kids love him/her (depending on eyelashes). You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button, then feel free to share it with your friends.

I made bunny ears the other day which inspired me to have a go at making mouse ears, I ended up making a few of these at a party recently and they are really popular. These ears are made from 4 balloons, they are 2 round 5" balloons and 2 x 260 balloons, they are then attached to a hairband. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button, then feel free to share it with your friends.

27th July - Bunny Ears

Here are some bunny ears on a hairband, easy to make and it only uses 2 balloons, they are a grey 260 and a white 160, it is simple to make and looks really cute. This is the first photo with my new camera as well, I was having so many problems with my last one so decided to take the plunge and get a new one.

26th July - Crown

After making a royal baby with a crown earlier this week I was inspired to make a bigger wearable crown, It is made from 8 balloons,

I actually made the 6 little round jewel bubbles first out of a 260 and put them to one side, next I inflated 6 gold 260 balloons and weaved them together and joining them at the too, a round balloon was next and that was given a tulip twist and secured into place, finally I used the remainder of the gold balloons to make the cross and then I added the little red jewels around the base.

25th July - Thomas the Tank Engine

Its Philip's birthday today, he is my nephew and earlier in the year he requested a Thomas the Tank Engine, I did make a more simple Thomas back on March 20th but I wanted to do a more complicated one today. I hope you have a very happy birthday Phil.

This Thomas is made from 13 balloons, I started with the face which is a 5" round and a bit of white balloon for the nose, I then added an inner core (which you cant see) from a 350, the main tank and funnel were next, they are a 260 and a 160 and then cane the red 160s around the base, the cab and roof came next and finally I added the wheels and artwork on the face.

24th July - Mr Tall

There is a Birthday to celebrate today, its the birthday of Sean Lobban (aka The Amazing Mister Tall). Sean is a balloon modeller and I have ballooned with him on many occasions. To help celebrate Sean's birthday I have made Mr Tall from the Mr Men books, Happy Birthday Sean.

Mr Tall here is made 5 balloons, I made his body first from a round balloon and put in 2 raisin twists for the arms which are a 160, the legs are also a 160 and are joined onto the knot in the round balloon, his feet are a 160 and the base is a sand filled round balloon.

23rd July - Baby Prince

After the arrival of a new royal baby yesterday I felt I needed to mark the occasion with this, the first official photograph of the new royal baby, may I introduce our future king, King Kevin the first.

Weighing in at just 4 ounces (most of the weight is sand in the base balloon) he is made from 14 balloons, a mixture of 350s, 260s and 160s, I do like the gold balloons on the crown and on his rattle/sceptre, if your interested, the red balloon on the crown is a heart, it makes quite a nice shape.

Anyway, my congratulations goes to the real royal couple and their family, I don't think they are regular viewers of My Daily Balloon but if they do happen to look in, please do say hi. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button, then feel free to share it with your friends.

22nd July - Tulip Twist on a Straw

I saw someone do this the other day and I just had to have a go, it is a tulip (or apple) twist with a straw going right through the middle, I had no idea how this was done when I first saw it but I kind of figured it out and I am pleased with the result. No prizes for guessing how many balloons I used here.

21st July - Bird Brained

I am into the idea of hairbands at the moment and have been playing around with them a lot, here is a bird hairband made almost entirely from 160s except for his beak which was a bit of left over scrap balloon from a 260.

20th July - Monster

I am still in Monster mode here and the idea for this little monster was given to me by Nikki the magic lady, It was made from 3 balloons and a bit of scrap, 1 x 260 for the main body and head, a 160 for the arms and another 160 for the horns, the bit of scrap was for the eyes,

19th July - Two Hundred

Today marks the 200th day of 2013 and my 200th balloon sculpture, I wanted to do something a bit more spectacular but its currently the last week of school so I am spending the week doing school shows, also its the hottest summer EVER and my sculptures are not really playing ball in these temperatures, the room I usually make balloons in reached over 40 degrees Celsius recently so at the moment my sculptures are short and hopefully sweet. Anyway, thanks for continuing to follow my balloons and if anyone would like to help me celebrate by sharing My Daily Balloon with their friends then I would appreciate that a LOT.

This Sculpture would normally be made from 7 balloons, however I cheated and made it from just 3 and a little scrap of balloon, I first made the number 2, then used a scrap to join it to a geo base, then I photographed it on the bench and took it to bits, next I made a lilac 0 and fixed it to the same geo base, then I photographed it on the bench twice in different places, finally I imported all the pictures into photoshop and joined them all together to look like 1 picture, finally I changed the colour of the last 0 to make it look different and removed all the back ground colour to make all the numbers stand out.

18th July - Lightning Bolt to the Head

I made this the other day at a party after someone asked me to make a sculpture, they wanted anything that I had never attempted to make before, I was standing thinking about what I could make and I initially thought about a light bulb on a hair band but then the lightning bolt idea hit me and that is what I made, its made from 2 balloons, both 260s.

17th July - Monster Eyes Two

Here is another Monster eyes hairband, I originally just had the purple balloon on there and imagined they were ears but now I have added the eyes I think they have become wings, in fact I think it looks like a stingray or something, the thing with ballooning is that sometimes you start out making 1 thing and by the end it comes out as something totally different.

16th July - Singin' In The Rain

Its Jenny's Birthday today and she is a big musicals fan and a huge fan of Singin' in the Rain (its one of my favourites too), Here is Gene Kelly singin' in the sunshine today. Happy Birthday Jenny xxx

This sculpture is made from 23 balloons, The Lamp post is made from 11 and the rest make up Gene, I started with the lamp post on this model, making the main stem and base first, there is a hidden weighted balloon weighing it all down and then I added all the rings and the lamp at the top, next came Gene, he is similar to my other people models but I shrank him in size a little as I wanted the lamp post to tower over him.

15th July - Simple Tiger

This Tiger is very similar to my simple lion, this one has stripes though, its very easy to make, a few pinch twists and normal twists and you have a tiger, it takes longer to draw the stripes on than it does to make the balloon.

13th July - Chain

Its an easy one today as I have a really busy day of shows. I have made this chain a few times recently in various lengths and colour for different things, Its great to add to a decoration, or to use it at a party to attach things to. it can be made in 1, 2, 3 or 4 colours and is either made from 2 or 4 balloons, this one is 2 balloons.

12th July - Bunny Five

I originally was meant to do another balloon for a friend today but I am currently away and it's a bit difficult to do so I will do that balloon design soon. Have I really done 4 rabbits all ready this year? yes I have and I expect I have more to come as well. This rabbit is made from just 2 balloons (or 1 and a scrap of black), they are both 260s and its pretty easy to make taking a couple of minutes, I think it looks a lot more life like than some of the other rabbits I have made so far this year.

11th July - A Tail of Another Snail

On Monday I made a snail based on a design by Graham, today I am featuring another snail with a slightly different shell design, its not quite as stable as the one I made on Monday but I like the look of this shell. He is made from 4 balloons, 1 x 260 for the shell, another 260 for the body, a scrap for the eyes and another 260 for the antlers.

9th July - Telephone Box

Its Sharon and Sean's 25th Anniversary today and to help them celebrate I have made them a telephone box (they have their reasons), This phone box is made from about 29 balloons, mostly 260s but with 2 x 160s at the very top, I started making it last night and finished it this morning, the last thing I put on was the little heart at the top. Happy Anniversary Sharon and Sean.

8th July - A Tail of Two Snails

This week I am going to make 2 snails, for a while now I have seen Graham making a rather brilliant snail, he usually makes it at his balloon events and I really liked the look of it, so today I have tried to replicate Graham's snail. Later in the week I will be featuring another snail, it is very similar to this snail except I have made a slight change to the design of the shell, watch out for that on Thursday.

This snail is made from 4 balloons (or 3 and a scrap) I used a blush 260 for the body and a lime 360 for the shell, another 260 was used for the antenna and the scrap was for the eyes. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button.

7th July - Loch Ness Hairband

While at a recent balloon event I purchased some hair bands, I have never made a balloon hair band before and wanted to give it a go, I saw a few hair band designs made at the balloon event including one made by the multi award winning balloon modeller Colin which was similar to this head band design.

My Loch Ness hairband is made from 3 balloons, I started by creating the blue water from a 260 using a similar technique to the pinch line technique except I only used 1 balloon rather than 2. The monster is made from a 160 and his little Scottish hat is a scrap of a 260.

6th July - The Altea Rose

I made some roses last week but I much prefer this rose, it is called the Altea rose, invented by Antonio Becarus and named after his home town in Spain, I really like the look of this and I was so pleased that Antonio shared it last week at a balloon event, thanks Antonio

It is made from 3 balloons, all of them are 160s however you can make it with any sized balloons, in this version I used 2 for the flower and 1 for the stemYou can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button.

5th July - Hummingbird

I was surfing the internet wondering what to make and I came across this Youtube video from Becky Thompson - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJnbzXLjVac, Becky was unsure as to whether a hummingbird has a tail, they do indeed have beautiful colourful tails which they use for balance while hovering, so I gave mine a bit of a different tail to the one Becky makes. This hummingbird was made from 5 x 160 balloons (the flower was another 2).

4th July - Rosette

Well Its just a quick one today, I have had such a busy day and I didn't really get home until well after 11pm, and just finished making this as my clock hit midnight (phew, no pumpkins for me). I wanted to do something for American Independence Day today, I know I have a fair few viewers from the USA so I wanted to wish them all a very happy holiday and make a red, white and blue rosette (it occurred to me that this might look like something political, it was not intended to be, I just want to wish you all a happy holiday).

3rd July - Caterpillar Two

Here is another caterpillar, direct from the Welsh countryside. I wanted to practice the pinch twist method shown to me by Antonio Becarus last week, this caterpillar uses 4 x 260 balloons, 2 for the body, 1 for the antenna and 1 for the eyes (I actually used a scrap piece for the eyes)

2nd July - Simple Butterfly

A couple of friends recently had a go at balloon modelling, one of then was asked to make a butterfly and I ended up recommending this one, it is made from 2 balloons and is fairly quick to make.

I am away camping at the moment and I am uploading this from a farm near the Welsh border, fingers crossed it all works, I have faith in the technology.

1st July - Heart

This may look like a simple sculpture, you can buy heart shaped balloons, they measure about 6 inches across or 15 inches across and come in a range of colours, this little heart was NOT made from a heart shaped balloon, it is made from a standard 260 balloon, they can also be made from a 160 and a 350. I must thank Antonio Becarus for sharing this technique with me at a recent balloon event, thanks Antonio.

This little heart measures around 2" across, I used 1 balloon for the heart and 1 x 160 for the white base. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button.
