28th June - Dom the Bass Player

Its Dom's Birthday today and he is a bass player in the awesome band Jack Rabbit. Here is Dom with his red guitar and his amp, its exactly how I imagine him to look at one of his gigs.

Balloon Dom is made from 23 balloons, for some reason I started with the guitar with is made from 4 x 260s and a 160, it is modelled that on Dom's own guitar, I then made a body and sleeves from 2 x 260s and the arms from 2 x 160s, now I joined the arms and guitar together.

The next thing I made were the legs and feet from 3 x 260 and I gave him a belt too from a 160, the amp is made 6 balloons, mostly 260s with a black round balloon for the speaker. The last thing for me to make was Dom's head, it is made from 1 blush 260 and an orange 260 for his ginger hair. I attached the whole thing to a donut balloon so he can stand up nicely.

Happy birthday Dom, hope you have a wicked day today. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button.

23rd May - Monkey

I cant believe I have nearly made it to June and this is my first Monkey, I made a gorilla a few weeks ago but this is my first Monkey, he is based on a monkey made by Dylan Gelinas so thanks for that Dylan, your designs are just so awesome, I just had to add in a banana for him to nibble on.

I think there are 10 balloons in use here, 2 for the banana and then the rest in the monkey, I probably spent as long making the banana as I did making the monkey. There are a mixture of balloons in use here including 260s, 160s, 350s and a 5" round.

Tomorrow is Film Friday and I am quite excited about the sculpture I have in mind, it will be on display in HMV Gunwharf over the weekend. Also coming up on June 2nd, I will be doing a live balloon sculpture at the Aspex Gallery in Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, it is to help celebrate the Camp Bestival Around the World Tour, between the hours of 11am and 2pm I will be creating my biggest sculpture of the year so far, there will be lots of other activities going on in the gallery and I will update you on those nearer the time.

21st May - Scooby-Doo

This Scooby-Doo is made from 12 balloons, it is totally my own design and I have spent the last day or 2 thinking about it and working it out and this is the result. The shopping list for this sculpture is
2 x Mocha 160, 1 x Blush 160, 1 x Pale blue 160, 1 x yellow 160, 1 x white 260, 1 x black 260, 4 x mocha 260s, 1 x mocha 350.

On a totally unrelated subject, it was old Mrs Jenkins who was dressed up as the Calamity school ghost and scaring all those pesky kids in order to steal the St Claremont diamond, Scoobydoobydoooooooooooo!!!
