17th August - Scout

It was months ago I was asked by someone to make a cub or scout, I have finally gotten around to it. This is how I used to dress when I went to the cubs all those years ago, I think I still have my little green cap and woggle somewhere. Hope you like it PJ and sorry it took me ages.

This Cub is made from 11 balloons, I started with the shorts and legs and then added the belt body and feet, next I made the head and added hair, and then the arms, finally I added the hands, hat and the little scarf. The sculpture is made entirely from 260s except for the yellow scarf which is a 160.

I now have 2 tutorials available on MDB extra, the cute bunny and now the plane. they are both available for free on the blog or you can purchase the PDF for a small fee. You can keep up to date with all the MDB news by clicking like on the facebook page at -  https://www.facebook.com/MyDailyBalloon

11th August - Flower Face

This is an idea by Antonio Becarus, I saw him a few months ago and thought this was a clever and cute idea and a great way to use up all your scraps of balloon, there are actually 11 balloons being used here but 6 of those are scraps of left over balloon. I mainly used 260 balloons for this design, the only 2 which are not 260s are the main part of the pot which is a 360 and the base which is a Geo blossom.

7th August - Merman

This little Merman is based on a design by Cody Williams, Cody made a merman based on the character 'Gil' from the children's TV show 'Bubble Guppies'.    Now I have never heard of the Bubble Guppies and I am not too sure if we get it here in the UK, maybe its on some random sky channel? anyway, I liked the design but ended up making a few changes, I had to change the body as I didn't have any the balloons Cody used and I changed the tail just because I preferred a different style.

Thanks for the design Cody, he is brilliant. He is made from 6 balloons, a mixture of 160s and 260s. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button, then feel free to share it with your friends.

3rd August - Bride

Its Chris and Amy's wedding day today and I have the privilege of being one of the best men and official photographer for the day, I was going to make a bride and groom but I have not gotten around to making the groom yet and I thought the bride was more important (besides Chris has already had a balloon made for him on March 14th)

This Bride is made from 13 balloons, mainly 260s but there are a few 160s thrown in there too for the head dress and arms and flowers. I would like to wish both Amy and Chris a wonderful wedding day, I hope they have an awesome future together.

30th July - Mini Monkey

Awwww its a cute little monkey, his body and head sit at just 5 inches tall but his tail makes him around 10 inches tall, I love little sculptures like this, they make people go, "ahhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Mini Monkey is made from 2 x 160 balloons, he is very quick to make and the kids love him/her (depending on eyelashes). You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button, then feel free to share it with your friends.

23rd July - Baby Prince

After the arrival of a new royal baby yesterday I felt I needed to mark the occasion with this, the first official photograph of the new royal baby, may I introduce our future king, King Kevin the first.

Weighing in at just 4 ounces (most of the weight is sand in the base balloon) he is made from 14 balloons, a mixture of 350s, 260s and 160s, I do like the gold balloons on the crown and on his rattle/sceptre, if your interested, the red balloon on the crown is a heart, it makes quite a nice shape.

Anyway, my congratulations goes to the real royal couple and their family, I don't think they are regular viewers of My Daily Balloon but if they do happen to look in, please do say hi. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button, then feel free to share it with your friends.

16th July - Singin' In The Rain

Its Jenny's Birthday today and she is a big musicals fan and a huge fan of Singin' in the Rain (its one of my favourites too), Here is Gene Kelly singin' in the sunshine today. Happy Birthday Jenny xxx

This sculpture is made from 23 balloons, The Lamp post is made from 11 and the rest make up Gene, I started with the lamp post on this model, making the main stem and base first, there is a hidden weighted balloon weighing it all down and then I added all the rings and the lamp at the top, next came Gene, he is similar to my other people models but I shrank him in size a little as I wanted the lamp post to tower over him.

11th July - A Tail of Another Snail

On Monday I made a snail based on a design by Graham, today I am featuring another snail with a slightly different shell design, its not quite as stable as the one I made on Monday but I like the look of this shell. He is made from 4 balloons, 1 x 260 for the shell, another 260 for the body, a scrap for the eyes and another 260 for the antlers.

8th July - A Tail of Two Snails

This week I am going to make 2 snails, for a while now I have seen Graham making a rather brilliant snail, he usually makes it at his balloon events and I really liked the look of it, so today I have tried to replicate Graham's snail. Later in the week I will be featuring another snail, it is very similar to this snail except I have made a slight change to the design of the shell, watch out for that on Thursday.

This snail is made from 4 balloons (or 3 and a scrap) I used a blush 260 for the body and a lime 360 for the shell, another 260 was used for the antenna and the scrap was for the eyes. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button.

28th June - Dom the Bass Player

Its Dom's Birthday today and he is a bass player in the awesome band Jack Rabbit. Here is Dom with his red guitar and his amp, its exactly how I imagine him to look at one of his gigs.

Balloon Dom is made from 23 balloons, for some reason I started with the guitar with is made from 4 x 260s and a 160, it is modelled that on Dom's own guitar, I then made a body and sleeves from 2 x 260s and the arms from 2 x 160s, now I joined the arms and guitar together.

The next thing I made were the legs and feet from 3 x 260 and I gave him a belt too from a 160, the amp is made 6 balloons, mostly 260s with a black round balloon for the speaker. The last thing for me to make was Dom's head, it is made from 1 blush 260 and an orange 260 for his ginger hair. I attached the whole thing to a donut balloon so he can stand up nicely.

Happy birthday Dom, hope you have a wicked day today. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and sculptures by heading over to Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hitting the 'like' button.

This little footballer is made from 10 balloons, they are all 260s except the football which is a round balloon, and the white bits which are a 160.

Gru and his gun are made from 18 balloons, mainly black 260s for the body, some 160s for parts of the gun and arms and legs, he has a round balloon for his head and there is a 350 in there somewhere too.

20th June - Pharmacist Joe

Its Joe's birthday today and I have made him into a balloon, he is a pharmacist and this is exactly what I think he looks like when he wanders the wards. He has his syringe of insulin and that is a pink handkerchief in his pocket, its most defiantly NOT his phone, I have also given him a bow tie because bow ties are cool and I think Joe should wear a bow tie.

Balloon Joe is made from about 15 balloons, mainly 260s but there is a 350 for his body and a 160 for his bow tie, his syringe is made from an orange balloon inside a clear balloon.

9th June - Baby Girl

I recently was asked to make a little baby girl for a baby shower and this is what I came up with, it is based on a design by Dylan Gelinas so I have him to thank for this.

The baby (and her bear) is made from 9 balloons, a mixture of sizes, 160s, 260s, 350s and a blush 5" round balloon. When I returned home from dropping her off I got great delight in telling people I just delivered a baby.

5th June - Cow

I went to Longdown activity farm yesterday with the family, It had lots of lovely animals, it had 2 cows, 4 geese and a 36 million goats (I think). I thought it would be a good idea to do a farm animal today so here is a cow (or maybe a bull?)

It is made from 9 balloons, first I made the face from a white 260 and then attached the nose which was a blush round, the nose join was filled in with a 160 and then I added the ears and horns, both are 260s. The body and legs were a white 350 and a 260, lastly there was a little 160 tail which you cant really see in this photo.

3rd June - Around the World

I have to thank Nat and Jenny for supplying the photos today due to a faulty memory card in my camera.

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to help out with an event at a local art gallery, The Aspex gallery in Gunwharf Quays were playing host to the Camp Bestival Around the World Tour, they asked me if I could make a sculpture to fit the theme, after a lot of thinking I came up with the idea of building a dome to represent the world, I had 3 hours to build the sculpture and so yesterday morning at 11am I started the build.

It started off looking pretty cool, then as it got bigger and bigger it started to look like a complete mess, however with an hour to go things turned around and it started to look good again (phew) it took me 2 hours to build a complete dome, to finish it off I attached various balloon sculptures to the dome, a penguin to represent the poles, a camel in the desert, a ship and whale in the sea, and an elephant and rhino on the grassland, I even put a plane flying over the land.

Now comes the sad part, when I got home I discovered that my camera memory card had been corrupted at some point during the day and all my photos of the sculpture are gone, booo, thankfully Nat and Jenny were with me and they snapped a few on their phones so thanks to them I have some photos. So here is a selection of photos taken by Nat and Jenny. I did manage to do a Timelapse video of the whole build as well  and you can see that here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TGvzwyWwx0&feature=youtu.be
