16th August - Fish Ten
This is the 10th Fish I have made, I wasn't going to make any more for a while but then I decided to have a go at a fun competition in a balloon forum to make this exact fish and as I hadn't made him before I thought it would be good to have him as today's balloon.
He is the design of Stuart (aka Areyouhappydad) and I think he looks cool, he is made from just 2 balloons, a 5" round make up the body and lips, then a 160 make up the rest, thanks Stuart.
I now have 2 tutorials available on MDB extra, the cute bunny and now the plane. they are both available for free on the blog or you can purchase the PDF for a small fee. You can keep up to date with all the MDB news by clicking like on the facebook page at - https://www.facebook.com/MyDailyBalloon
On another note I had a lovely message from Helen who followed the bunny tutorial on MDB Extra, she wanted a cute bunny for a little girls birthday and this is what she came up with, thank you Helen, I LOVE the hutch, you have put so much work into this, its all the little extras which make it so good.

If you want to send me photos of your versions of any of my balloons then I would love to see them and I can feature them on my blog like I did with Helen's, send any photos to robbieaibm@live.co.uk or message me on the facebook page.

9th August - Water on the Brain
Here is a fishy on a hairband blowing bubbles (the fish is blowing bubbles, not the hairband), He is made from 5 balloons, I wanted the base to be 2 colours but I could have made that out of just 1 balloon if need. 7th August - Merman
This little Merman is based on a design by Cody Williams, Cody made a merman based on the character 'Gil' from the children's TV show 'Bubble Guppies'. Now I have never heard of the Bubble Guppies and I am not too sure if we get it here in the UK, maybe its on some random sky channel? anyway, I liked the design but ended up making a few changes, I had to change the body as I didn't have any the balloons Cody used and I changed the tail just because I preferred a different style.
Thanks for the design Cody, he is brilliant. He is made from 6 balloons, a mixture of 160s and 260s. 27th June - Lobster
The last few days I have been in Halesowen in Birmingham for a 2 day balloon event, it was brilliant and I learnt so much new stuff, it was not just new sculptures for me to make but also for some new twisting techniques. the highlight for me was the David Grist Memorial Lecture by Antonio Becarus from Spain.
One of the things Antonio taught us was the pinch line technique and I have used it in this sculpture of a lobster. I am not going to tell you what part of the sculpture is made using the pinch line technique but if your familiar with balloon modelling then you can probably work out which bit it is. Antonio was an excellent teacher and I thank you for sharing your knowledge.
My Lobster is made from 3 x 260s plus 2 bits of scrap balloon. I used 2 balloons for the tail and then 1 for the body and pincers, the bits of scrap balloon were used for the eyes.

19th May - Fish Bones
I first made these Fish Bones the other evening while playing around at a balloon jam so I thought I would make another one today, its just made from 2 x 160s, you could probably make it from just 1 x 160 if you made it smaller.

19th April - Whale
I make this whale quite often at various parties, he seems to be quite popular, he is made from 7 balloons, this includes the base which makes him self standing, when I make him at parties I usually only use 5 balloons.
I start with 2 x 350 balloons then add in the fins which are a 260, next I add the water spout which is made from 2 x white 260s and finally the base is added from a 260 and a 350. There is another secret ingredient which makes him self standing but I will let you work that out for yourselves.

4th April - Killer Whale
I make 2 different killer whales, a big one and a small one, the big one involves many balloons and takes me a while to build, you can wear it on your head and when its done and I give it to you to take home you will find it a struggle to walk through doorways normally. This killer whale however is the small one, it is made from 4 balloons, a black 260, a white 260, a black 160 and a white 160, it takes me just a couple of minutes to make.

12th March - Lobster
This lobster was inspired by the balloonist Pascal Grooten from Belgium, he makes some amazing models and it is worth looking at some of his work. My lobster is made from 12 balloons in total, this consists of 1 red heart balloon, 3 red round balloon, 5 x 260s, 2 x 160s and a black 260, he took me 90 minutes to make.
This lobster brings my balloon count up to 70 since January 1st and I am still going strong (I think) , if I want to do a year then there is only 295 days to go (eeek).

7th March - One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish
The Barker family recently informed me that it is world book day and I was scratching my head to think of what to do, a quick Google search bought me the top 100 best children's books and the Dr Seuss book One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. I have never read this book and I have never really liked Dr Seuss but he seems very popular so thought I would give it a go.
The 5 fish are made from a total of 8 balloons, The One fish is made from a 260 yellow and a 160 yellow, the Two fish are made from just 1 green 160, the Red fish is a round 6" red balloon with a 260 for the lips and tail, then the last Blue fish is a 350 blue balloon with a bit of white for the eyes and a 160 blue for the tail.

27th January - Blue Whale
This is a blue whale, you can tell he is a blue whale because he is errr . . . blue and he is a whale, also the person holding him has the worlds largest hands (not really, its me silly).
Bluey here (thats his name, Bluey) is made from 4 balloons (actually 2 and 2 halves), half a 350 for the body, a white 260 for the belly and tale, half a blue 260 for the tail and another whole blue 260 for the nose and fins.
