14th May - Pelican

Here is a Pelican, he is made from 7 balloons, I started with a yellow heart balloon and added it onto a yellow 160, the next step was to add a white 260 for the head and then the blue 260 for the eyes, next I used another 260 for the body and then I added another 350 for the wings, finally I added an 11 inch round for the base for him to sit on.

13th May - Tank

Back in March I was shown how to make this tank by Graham, I think it looks rather cool so tanks Graham . . . I mean thanks Graham.

It is made from 5 balloons, a 350 makes up the body and turret of the tank with a 160 as the gun, I then add a 260 for the rest of the body and finally another 2 grey 260s for the tracks.

12th May - Gondolier

Last night was the 75th anniversary Portsmouth and District Magic Circle Annual Dinner and the theme of the event was Venetian Masquerade Ball, I help to organise the event and for the table centres I made these gondoliers, each one a different colour. It total there were 11 of these men, each one was made from 10 balloons so in total (including a few deflations) I used well over 110 balloons.

First I made the bases from an 11" round balloon, then I added on a 260 sized balloon for the feet and legs (which are also the core of the body) next thing I made was the stripey top, sleeves and arms from another 260 and then I added in the gondoliers pole from a 160, finally the head and hat are made from 2 x 260s and a 5" round balloon.

11th May - Simple Dolphin

Its just a quick and simple balloon today as I have such a busy day ahead, This dolphin is made from just 1 x 260 balloon and is really quick to make, it is similar to the shark design I featured a short while ago.

10th May - Starship Enterprise - NCC 1701

I went to the cinema last night, can you guess what I went to see? no, it was not 'Revenge of the Carebears' (thats not out yet), no it was the new Star Trek film (its awesome).

I spent a while yesterday afternoon having a play around with ideas for this starship and nothing worked for me, I have discovered that I make my best balloons in the morning or late at night, but not in the afternoon, what ever I did just was not right. When I got home after seeing the film I had a brainwave and finally worked out how to do the saucer section, the rest just kind of happened. I had also been practicing with grey balloons but after thinking about it for a while it had to be done in white.

It is made from 11 balloons (although I probably went through about 30 in total trying different ideas), there is a 5 inch round, an 11" round, 4 x 350s, 5 x 260s and 1 x 160. I used 4 raisin twists to hold it all together and those proved to be a problem but I got there in the end. I have probably spent more time in this sculpture than I have on any of my other balloons, In total I think I have spent about 3 or 4 hours doing it.

9th May - E.T.

Long time ago, in a galaxy far far away . . . . . Oh, no, that is the wrong film, let me start again.  A couple of months ago and not that far away at all I was set a challenge by Keith to make a few sculptures, the first idea he had will take some more thinking but will come up in the near future, the other idea was to make E.T.

Its taken me so long to get around to making this sculpture, I am such a big fan of E.T. I wanted to get it just right. This sculpture is totally my own design and is made from 15 balloons, the head is mainly made from 260s and the body is mainly made from 350s, the feet and hands are made from 160s and 260s, the only non brown balloons are for the eyes, these are a tiny bit of black 160 and a white 260.

Thanks for the challenge Keith, I shall get around to make the other sculpture very soon, although I am somewhat worried it will open a whole new can of worms as I will be getting requests for all kinds of things from that hexalogy of films (thats a clue).

8th May - Motorbike Two

I have to thank Mr Boma from Mr Boma's Balloons for todays sculpture, This really awesome motorbike is not too difficult to make and really looks the part, you can also check out Mr Boma's facebook page by going here - https://www.facebook.com/MrBomasBalloons or visit his website here - http://mrbomasballoons.com

In the tutorial Mr Boma makes his out of grey, for some reason I used silver, In the tutorial the handle bars are made from 160s and when I got to making those I realised I didn't have any silver 160s so I had to use a 260 instead, when I make it in the future I will the handle bars from a 160 as I think they will look better slightly smaller.

The Motorbike is made from 5 balloons, 1 black 260, 1 red 260, 3 silver 260s. You can follow My Daily Balloon several other ways Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hit the 'like' button
