12th August - Simple Aeroplane

I am often asked to make planes and this is a rather simple and very quick plane I make, it is made from 3 balloons (4 if you include the clear one that) and if your in a real rush you can leave off the propeller and make it even faster but I don't like to do that too often.

8th August - Scooter

This Scooter is another one I have seen Graham make on his balloon forum, it is made from 13 balloons (I seem to make a lot of my sculptures from 13 balloons for some odd reason). I like the little ribbons coming from the handles and the wheels look wheely good (doh).

25th July - Thomas the Tank Engine

Its Philip's birthday today, he is my nephew and earlier in the year he requested a Thomas the Tank Engine, I did make a more simple Thomas back on March 20th but I wanted to do a more complicated one today. I hope you have a very happy birthday Phil.

This Thomas is made from 13 balloons, I started with the face which is a 5" round and a bit of white balloon for the nose, I then added an inner core (which you cant see) from a 350, the main tank and funnel were next, they are a 260 and a 160 and then cane the red 160s around the base, the cab and roof came next and finally I added the wheels and artwork on the face.

27th May - Helicopter

This Helicopter is made from 8 balloons, I started with the framework of the main body with some blue 260s and then added in the round white balloon for the windows (a transparent balloon would have been cool here but I don't have any).
The nest step was to add the tail and tail rotor, then I added in the main rotor blades, finally I made the landing struts for it to sit on.

Coming up on June 2nd, I will be doing a live balloon sculpture at the Aspex Gallery in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, it is to help celebrate the Camp Bestival Around the World Tour, between the hours of 11am and 2pm I will be creating my biggest sculpture of the year so far (at nearly 6 feet across and 5 feet tall, eeek) there will be lots of other activities taking place in the gallery and I will update you on those nearer the time.

Rob can make sculptures for any event, birthdays, anniversaries, get well soon, baby showers, window displays, corporate events and so much more, you can contact him on 07763464628 or robbieaibm@live.co.uk for more information.

13th May - Tank

Back in March I was shown how to make this tank by Graham, I think it looks rather cool so tanks Graham . . . I mean thanks Graham.

It is made from 5 balloons, a 350 makes up the body and turret of the tank with a 160 as the gun, I then add a 260 for the rest of the body and finally another 2 grey 260s for the tracks.

10th May - Starship Enterprise - NCC 1701

I went to the cinema last night, can you guess what I went to see? no, it was not 'Revenge of the Carebears' (thats not out yet), no it was the new Star Trek film (its awesome).

I spent a while yesterday afternoon having a play around with ideas for this starship and nothing worked for me, I have discovered that I make my best balloons in the morning or late at night, but not in the afternoon, what ever I did just was not right. When I got home after seeing the film I had a brainwave and finally worked out how to do the saucer section, the rest just kind of happened. I had also been practicing with grey balloons but after thinking about it for a while it had to be done in white.

It is made from 11 balloons (although I probably went through about 30 in total trying different ideas), there is a 5 inch round, an 11" round, 4 x 350s, 5 x 260s and 1 x 160. I used 4 raisin twists to hold it all together and those proved to be a problem but I got there in the end. I have probably spent more time in this sculpture than I have on any of my other balloons, In total I think I have spent about 3 or 4 hours doing it.

8th May - Motorbike Two

I have to thank Mr Boma from Mr Boma's Balloons for todays sculpture, This really awesome motorbike is not too difficult to make and really looks the part, you can also check out Mr Boma's facebook page by going here - https://www.facebook.com/MrBomasBalloons or visit his website here - http://mrbomasballoons.com

In the tutorial Mr Boma makes his out of grey, for some reason I used silver, In the tutorial the handle bars are made from 160s and when I got to making those I realised I didn't have any silver 160s so I had to use a 260 instead, when I make it in the future I will the handle bars from a 160 as I think they will look better slightly smaller.

The Motorbike is made from 5 balloons, 1 black 260, 1 red 260, 3 silver 260s. You can follow My Daily Balloon several other ways Facebook -www.facebook.com/mydailyballoon and hit the 'like' button

4th May - Flying Saucer

Yesterday I went to climb Milk hill in Wiltshire as part of another blog I am doing (which you can find here), In the past Milk hill became famous for its crop circles and UFO sightings, as today is Star Wars day (May the fourth be with you) I have decided to do something space themed and so here is one of the UFOs I didn't spot while climbing Milk hill.

It is made from 3 balloons, a 5" round, a 350 and a 260.

20th March - Thomas the Tank Engine

Here is another model made from just the 1 balloon, its not a perfect representation of Thomas the Tank engine but I kids seem to know instantly what it is when I make it so that is what matters.

I start this model with an apple twist then add in 13 more normal twists, I then do the artwork at the end which really helps it look the part.

19th March - Mini Motorbike

I have had a few people say that I have not made many models out of just 1 balloon so this week I plan to do a few, this motorbike was shown to me by Roy last week and it was his birthday yesterday so I thought it was a good idea to show it off, Thanks for showing it to me Roy

The motorbike is made from just 1 x 260 sized balloon, it takes about a minute to make, you have to twist 14 bubbles into the balloon and then the last thing you do it to pop one of the bubbles to create the separate handle bars. I did it in pink because girls can like motorbikes too.
